Phylloxera

"Fillossera" or phylloxera is a louse or an aphid that has spread terror in many wine-producing countries. It can destroy entire vineyards. Today, grafted vines are to avoid the louse harmful effect. A resistant North American vine plant, Vitis aestivalis, is used as root, then Vitis vinifera is grafted onto the root.
